DIY or Call the PRO'S?
Let’s think this through.
If you go the DIY route…
DIY may sound appealing at first, since you won’t have to pay (upfront!) for any services. But consider what DIY entails:
1. Unless you own your own equipment, you will have to buy or rent one, learn how to use it, clean it, and then return it or store it. There are costs associated with doing all these things.
2. Pressure washing machines are not intuitive to use. Use it wrong, and you could hurt yourself or someone else, stress your back, or damage the area you’re trying to clean. Then you’ll have to pay someone to redo your sidewalk, deck or exterior – not a fun or cheap project
3. Using the right amount of soap or detergents. Improperly balanced detergents could damage or discolor house paint or leave unevenly colored areas on a sidewalk
4. How much pressure and spraying techniques? Holding the water still while house pressure washing could cause permanent damage to the siding, especially if the pressure is at a very high level.
5. Finally, even if you do the work yourself – you really haven’t solved your cleaning problems, long term. If you maintain your home, for instance, your home will accrete algae, mold, and grime organically, over time. That means that, one day soon, you’ll be back out there, sweating and working hard, just to make your home look passable.
